The Bluelab Truncheon® Nutrient Meter measures the nutrient strength of a solution. It is essential when growing hydroponics to KNOW what the strength of the solution is before feeding your plants AND while they are growing. To take a reading of your solution - simply place the probe head into the solution for 1-2 minutes to reach the same temperature of your nutrient. Remove from the solution and place back in to take the reading as indicated by the flashing lights. Rinse the probe after use in fresh water and clean once a week to ensure the Truncheon Nutrient Meter remains accurate.It's great for stirring your nutrient tank too!

The Bluelab Nutrient Monitor is used to continuously measure the conductivity (EC/CF/ppm500) of a solution. It is designed to be mounted in a permanent position with the probe situated either 'inline' or simply placed in a tank or reservoir. The reading is displayed on the screen at all times. A single push of a button will display the current temperature of the solution.
As the monitor is operated by batteries, it can be located anywhere! The Monitor has an alarm feature, which is indicated by a red flashing light to let you know that the conductivity of the solution is outside the desired value. Calibration is not required as this is locked in during manufacture.
The monitor can display the readings in EC, CF or ppm500 and °C or °F. If you would like to change the reading value to be displayed, simply remove the back cover and change the jumpers.

In soils or growing media, pH strongly influences the availability of nutrients and the presence of micro-organisms and plants in the soil. Certain plants require a particular pH range to enable the required nutrients to be consistently available to the plant. If the solution is too acidic or too alkaline it can cause "lock up" - a situation which restricts certain elements essential for growth from being absorbed by the root structure. This in turn reduces plant heath and performance. Deficiencies in the required elements become apparent in plant growth and can lead to crop failure.
Probe cleaning is one of the most important parts of owning and operating any Bluelab meter, monitor or controller. If the probe is contaminated or dirty, it affects the accuracy of the reading displayed. The instrument is only as accurate as the probe is clean! The probe surface is where the instrument takes the reading of the solution.The information is sent back from the probe to the electronic brain of the instrument. A calculation is then done in the instruments brain or micro computer and a reading is then displayed. If the information sent back from the probe is inaccurate due to probe surface contamination then the reading will be inaccurate.
Cleaning the probes is a very easy task and prolongs the life of the probes.

HI 981405 has been designed to continuously monitor the two most important nutrient parameters in the hydroponics, greenhouses and horticultural applications. The HI 981405 allows the grower to easily check the status of the fertilizer solution at a glance with two easy to read LCD's and alarm lights. HI 981405 offers user selectable alarms for both pH and conductivity so growers can easily set the acceptable ranges to best match the nutrient level requirements of specific types of plants and flowers. The pH setpoint is adjustable from 3 to 7 pH and the alarm light is activated when the pH value exceeds this setpoint. The EC setpoint can range from 1.00 to 3.50 EC (mS/cm) and the alarm is activated when the value is below the setpoint. HI 981405 can be easily calibrated at one or two points in the pH range (pH 4 and 7) and at one point in the EC range with trimmers on the front of the instrument.
